Crank Bearings

How often does a guy change out crank bearings? Ive got a good hard 3300 miles on my 06 m7 900 big bore and havent done them yet. Anything I should look for?

I struggle with this as well. It's a lot cheaper to have them redone before they go out. If they go and take the crank with them, its pretty expensive. I've heard of several people with 7 or 8000 miles on these bottom ends with no maintenance. I'd say check the run out and if it's good then leave it alone. If not send it off to be redone.

I would have to agree with BigHoe.
Problem is, in order to do it right, you may as well buy a new/remanufactured crank.
By the time you replace all bearings, including rod bearings, you will be in it more or close to as much as a new one.
If you only replace outers, or only ones that feel bad, you are taking a chance IMO.
Inspect it, and run it I say.
I have over 5000 miles on my F-7 bottom end with no issues.
If you are unsure, replace it.

It wouldn't hurt to rebuild thats for sure, if the crank is within specs still just replace the bearings. You will get a lot more miles out of that motor by doing it now rather than later, i would too check the run out that will tell you if the bearings are bad or not to a certian extent. Because if you rip it down you had might as well do the whole engine on the way up.
