Cracked Y-pipe on MCX Apex

Dropped the track out today to change my worn out drivers, and noticed one of the y-pipes is cracked. What is the best way to deal with it? Should I replace it, or take em off and get em welded up? Just looking for someone who has dealt with the problem. Thanks

Hey Darko, just the stock apex y-pipes, I heard something about rx-1 headers but just wondering what it takes to get em to fit in there. thanks for the help, Mike

The MCX Y-pipe most likely cracked because the Ti pipes deform where it meets the T pipe. Have a real good look at the Ti pipes, this was a real problem in 2006. The solution is RX1 stainless steel headers, with 50mm added to them to make them the same length as the Apex pipes. If you are changing the Ti to stainless or having someone do it, make sure you use a new (non distorted Ti pipe for the proper angle). Lots of peeps just welded the 50mm extension on straight, and if done it wont fit worth shiot and will cause cracks after time. Ok, so back to the point, have a good look at the Ti's, if you need RX1 replacements CR Racing has them in stock and with the extension's pre welded on to form fit. As for the MCX Y pipe crack, give it a fresh grind and have it re-welded, most likely it was caused from the heat in the Ti pipes, but could always have been a weak weld by MCX.

Ya i guess i didnt specify, it is one of the header pipes coming off of the motor. It cracked on one of the welds. I just wanna get this thing fixed right, ill give Chad a call and talk to him about it. Is there any way to fix the problem with these exhaust flex-pipes that are bolted to the motor? I changed one already and I'm sure it will blow out again. Thanks so much for the help.

The flex pipes are what they are. They are usually pretty durable but if your Y pipes aren't securely fastened to the tunnel bracket the vibrations will take out the flex pipe.
