Looking for some advice. Been lurking here for a long time now. I am buying an 01 Cr500 and looking for the right blown up crf to build and Aluminum frame cr500 snowbike. I want an UFO kit or timbersled SX as it will see some flatland and I want a more playful ride. While i am looking for the right donor bike and building the conversion I want to use the 500 as is and use the same kit once I get the conversion done. The problem comes as i don't see a fit kit for the SX for the 500 and not sure if the UFO will fit haven't seen one built yet. Any Info or advice?

I am sure Timbersled will build you a fit kit for your CR500 so you can bolt an SX kit to it. I have another buddy that will be doing the same thing next season. If your looking for a 14' SX kit I will be putting mine up for sale after I am done riding this spring.

If you're going to an AL frame, you will want a fit kit for the year / model of the frame, not the 01 CR 500.

Last I heard, the UFO will be made for KTM's only next year. I'm sure someone can confirm / deny that rumor for you.

Yes i know I will need the fit kit for the alum frame but i wanna use the 500 in the steel frame until i get the conversion done. I am fine with buying two fit kits.
That's disappointing if UFO only builds kits for KTM's.

Aluminum frame only increases the vibration , no gain for snow builds , the steel frame has a lower seat height too with the kit on

Anyone with a lathe can spin you off a fit kit pretty quick, they are pretty simple.

A long ways away NWT Canada. I understand the vibration I have always wanted a Alum frame 500 tough and i figured it would would be easier to get it fit up for a SX kit or UFO with the newer Chassis. I dont have any other snow bikes anywhere near to look at to see if i could make it work on the old chassis.

I called Timbersled and all they could tell me was that they didn't make a SX fit kit for the old 500 something I already knew.

Does anybody know the limitations for mounting an SX kit? I understand that there are some clearance issues but not sure where. I am sure I could get some spacers built. There are a few used SX kits around that I am thinking about jumping on just don't want to get it up here and not be able to make it work on my 500.

Justin himself only KTM next year for UFO (on Facebook). Jap bikes not working as well as KTM with his kit apparently.

SX kit needs a linkage suspension bike and you need to mod the airbox typically.

No other snowbikes in the area? Don't ride alone man, at least go out with a sled or two.

I had to machine the inside subframe spacers on the timbersled( between the motor and the frame on the timbersled) for my 500af
