Cr500 exhaust flange question

So it seems about every 80 hours or so I am having to replace the exhaust flange because the pipe wears grooves and does not have a good seal... Is this normal?

I have seen a few different aftermarket flanges out there claiming a better seal. So I think it's a pretty common problem.

Its a horrible design. I hear there is a guy making an aluminum version of the atomic flange. I think SB knows who he is. I'm not sure that being aluminum that it'll be any better.

I have the Atomic22 flange. It seals better but doesnt last very long. I got a oring company to make me high temp orings in the US. I just replace them all the time. That flange on ebay has a 3rd oring. My only concern is it is made of aluminum wheras the Atomic is stainless. I would think the aluminum is gonna wear. Atomic 22 is no longer available i believe.

Correct the aluminum gets worn that's my issue... I use the viton rings... They wear but don't disintegrate the steel pipe wears groves into the base of the flange against the engine...
