CR tunnels and footholds

We are just installing our new tunnels and I am wondering about the footholds. Seems like it could be a problem getting your boot out from under the factory toeholds. I have seen pictures of a few other sleds and they have been left off, is this why? I actually like to hook my feet under when boondocking but don't need another knee surgery or worse if I can't get my foot out. Feedback would be appreciated from other peeps with these tunnels and with/without the bars.

I have also worried about this, but when I did my CR tunnel, it seemed like it was alot more sturdy after putting these bars back in. They seem to really tie things together for strength.

I took mine off while still running the stock tunnel after getting my foot stuck. Dont miss them at all.

I've never had an issue with them so I left them on when I did my tunnel, but I can see how it could happen. I have really small feet and wear small boots. If you wear some of those huge boots like the Klim ones for sure could happen.

The new tunnels have nice, big snow evacuation cutouts, along with really good traction. Even with my shoes on, in the shop, when I push my foot in hard, the teeth on the running board edges dig into the bottom of my sole and act like a barb on a fishhook. I am either going to have to remove the toeholds or flatten the teeth in that area. The downside of removing them is that I like to ride with my feet in the wells and pull up on the toeholds when laying the sled over in turns

I see you got the trans blue looks great. mine is also trans blue, rode it twice and that stuff is coming off in about 50 places not at all impressed with the coating. like the tunnel though.

If you're losing powder coat then it's a bad prep job. A good powder coat job should never fail. I've got several that are going onto 3 and 4 seasons and still look brand new. I'd take it back and show the coater and have them fix it in the summer.

i noticed that as well but havent had a chance to get out for a ride with the new tunnel yet :( i was thinking if its really bad i was just going to file the teeth off the first 2 holes , that way it wouldnt hook youre boot as bad . oh and i found my kilms last year were way worse for getting hooked in there than my flat bottomed snowboard boots

Yeah exactly what M5 said, bad prep job or undercured for the part.If the tunnels were polished before Powdercoating and all the polishing compounds were not removed the Powder will fail and peel off.I had the Wrinkle Black and it was on good, one small achip from a tab on my boots rubbing and thats it.Powdercoat isn't Bulletproof but it should last longer than anything. The translucents are normally pretty durable!I just did some parts in Candy red/Translucent and i'm redoing 1 part and its a Beotch to get off!!

I took them off,, what a hazard tried to throw the sled away last year(bail out) and my one foot got caught in the one when the sled hit the trees and I got sling shotted , it tore my ankle foot up good.. If your boots are tight in the foot holds I would be using them!!

I will be pi$$ed if the powdercoat comes off. I bought 2 of these blue tunnels and paid a lot more than the local powdercoater charges. Powdercoat doesn't come off unless it isn't done properly, that's why we use powdercoat in the first place.

I left mine on when I rebuilt my tunnel. I think they add alot of strength. I bailed multiple times last year while jumping and never had any issues and I have the big azz Klim Radium boots.

the powder coat on my cr tunnel and suspension parts is not pealing off, it just gets scratched from heavy use. I have no complaints with the coater, I would just prefer bare metal for durability.

I talked to chad he said that it was too bad, offered me touch-up paint, but thats as far as the warranty goes. thanks for nothing. he had no problem taking my money though. I guess he doesn't back his stuff.
