CPC TM8 questions

Im going to build a 09 TM8 this year and will probebly go with cutlers race kit but running it on pump gas. Im riding 90% boondocking so i think I dont need a IC..? My question is, Do I need to change the head to lower the compression or can i run with the stock one? Or should i go with BDs kit?
what's best for boondocking at low elevation? say around 1000-3000??

for boondocking,

- no intercooler
- culters has a good boondocker helix that comes with the kit
- i would gear way down to a 65/55...i did this last year and loved it
- the head thing will only hinder low speed boondocking...i wont want one

You do not need to change the head on an 09. I think the intercooler is a waste unless you pound long hills all day.

I spent a lot of time trying to decide this summer between BD/CPC/others and I went with boondocker PG. The CPC kit is really nice, but BD seems to be more reliable when you talk to people. (opinions of course)

My buddies 09 CPC RG kit got towed out because of electrical issues twice. It kept blowing fuses, would NOT start cold without fuel down the spark plug holes, and generally gave an unreliable feel. It ran nice when it ran, but I was not impressed with all the messing around to get it to run. I talked with CPC when researching turbos for my sled and they said "yeah, we always have a bunch of spare fuses with". CPC makes good stuff, but for me BD has a lot more out there and seems to be a lot more refined in the electronics dept. My buddy sold his CPC.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with CPC, but I was not impressed.

Hatchers, I have been thinking about doing this, but everyone says don't. I still think it is a good idea, but??

What kind of trackspeed do you get in a climb and WOT on the flats?

Thanks!

Don´t have that kind of hills here in Sweden as you guys have, sadly, my T nytro have never needed to go on full throttle in a climb :P

Im in the same poss as you was, I want the most reliable kit. Have been reading all info I could find on TM8's and I have to say, the opinions are very different!! There is no one else in Sweden running a CPC kit that I know of so I can´t ask how it works.. I know ONE person in Sweden running a 2stoke Turbo mountain sled... and he is running a BD RG kit on a D8.

Did your buddy have any other issues with the CPC kit?

Thanks!!

you say you want it for boondocking, I'm surprised nobody has suggested the Aero turbo kit. it is suppose to have the least amount of lag outta all the turbos.

maybe someone thats used one kind give a little info about the Aero

Very happy with our cpc M8.

It was raced for a season & the 500 miles we put on it last year were without a single push of a fuel button or anything other than checking oil level.

No complaints.

Don't think i want to go with a aero..
Code Red Performance had a nice setup I think.!? even if I like the cpc install, very clean.. Hard choice guys! damn!!

This is misinformation…the Cutler kit has a Attitude box that is working very well on both the BD and Twisted kits…what else could cause an electrical issue?…the sled owner or the fuel pump would be my first guess.

"electrical issue" is a generic term....

The Dobeck style box has a history of problems. I have friends that have to take theirs off after a ride because the humidity in the trailer messes up the box. They are all manufactured just outside of Bozeman and we had a Pure Logic Box and Attitude box go bad last season due to moisture problems. I'm sure the attitude box works great on the turbos but the box they use is junk and the reason I didn't buy a Twisted or CPC kit.

How does Cutler and Twisted deal with broken boxes? Do you get a new one?
Maybe I have change my mind,It seems like the BD kit is what most people rides, and the bonus for me going with this kit is that we have a dealer for boondocker in sweden.. hrm

Funny,

The box is EXACTLY the reason I won't buy a boondocker kit. I've seen SO many problems with boondocker boxes that I will never own one again. (I'm not just talking about problems that I've had)

I've had my share of issues with the early boondocker boxes but since the third generation box came out I haven't had any moisture problems. I had one programing error last year that kept telling me I had an injector error but it didn't affect anything and I didn't have it fixed until the end of the season.

If I remember right, Attitude warranties the box for 2 or 3 years. Send in the broken one and they will send you a new one.... Derek is very good about this!!

My suggestion is to mount it where it is protected. I see way too many mounted right out in the open where the snow can get all over them. Under the hood or under the handlebar pad works great!!

Okey, that sounds good.. still don't convinced of what kit to go with,
The questions I hade before was if I needed a IC or not, and lower the comp. And I dont.
So, how much boost can I run at 1000 feet with BD PG with the updated fuelsystem and no IC?

This is true and the ultimate solution to most of the problems I've encountered. In fairness attitude, the box was warranted. I hate problems on the mountain during the winter and a warranty claim is a lost weekend. The BD box has other features that are nice. Their box display's charge temps, nitrous pressure and RPM's. There are capture modes so you can push a button if the sled acts up and then go look at the stats to see where the problem occurred or what RPM you pulled. I've also found the RPM's the BD box gives you are more accurate than the stock gauge.

Come on now....you can't be serious? The fuel controller you bought for your SNOWmobile can't get snow on it? When I bought my sled the PL box was mounted under the hood. What a pain in A$$! Once you get it setup, then it wouldn't be bad, but until then it sucks. My box had the old harness that was too short to reach the bars, so I send it to Derik at Attitude and for a small fee he updated the programming and put the longer harness on it. I have it mounted on my bars now. MUCH nicer. I did dab some silicone on the wires where they enter they box, because I have heard of the moisture problem. IMO Dobeck needs to think about updating their box to make it completely waterproof if they are going to keep selling them to sledders. Boondocker updated theirs and it sounds like it is now completely waterproof.
