Just wondering if anyone running a CPC turbo kit with the torsional secondary on their sleds last year have played with their clutches in regards to changing helix angles or different springs? I don't have any complaints about the torsional set up which comes with the kit but there is always room for improvement in any set up, just curious what others have found.

Thanks

I have been running too low of gearing (54/66) and I say that cuz I have a top speed of 75-80ish when my belt jumps out of the secondary and blows. somewhere around 78, Anyway I have low gearing from twin pipe days, and run a 36/46 helix now. I wanted to try a 34/48 or 36/48 maybe even a 38/50...???? Just for the hell of it. But Dale talked me out of it. He suggested I gear back up and leave the helix as is. So thats what I think I'll do this year. That and up size the turbo I think.

I ride the hell out of this turbo and have had zero heat issues. Motor or clutches! No heat issues...... So I'm really wondering if I should change anything. I don't need to go 80mph. I did it in Grand Mesa, CO on a lake and thought I might have blown something more than a belt, (scary at 80mph!) but it was just a belt. I don't know......? I'm trying to make up my mind now in the summer, and that don't work!

From your videos, seems to be working ok............

My video is all at low boost 6#s. When I turn it up to 10-11#s it wheelies a little too easy and gets me into trouble alot faster and more often! On 10-11#s it's too easy to go anywhere I look. Most of those places I get to, and then wonder why the hell did I go up here!? It's just scary stupid fun!:becky:

I don't really see any reason that I need any more boost than 10#s. It's easy enough to go super gnarly places on 6-7#s!!!!

I've got stock CF gears (pretty sure the 11 CFLE is the same as the 10 M8)
with 46/36 helix. I run just shy of 80 track speed most days, but was running over 90 in the spring without any issues.

Belt life has been HUGELY better than ANY 1000 I've ever ridden with or owned, so I'm hesitant to change anything as well.

Clutching has been great for me, sled responds how I want it to, but also keeps belts relatively cool. I'm sure it could be better, but I'm happy.

(I'm at 10,500 to 13k btw)

A 46/36 or a 36/46

I think I have the 44/48 that comes with the kit if I'm not mistaken. Where would a guy notice performance difference by using a 36/46? Sorry, I'm not a helix guru:)

MNUD, if I'm not mistaken you're lower Alt than me.

I have to have a lower helix angle because I'm at higher alt, so I'm not pulling the power you are before boost.

you wouldn't want to go to a 36 on the bottom at your alt, it wouldn't load the motor properly from the way I understand helixes.

Ahh I see. Yeah I ride around 7000 feet. I will probably leave well enough alone and swap out my 2860 for one of the 2876 turbos that are being discussed right now:) lol If the 2876 is as crispy out of the hole as my 2860 is and gives me more on the top end, then I am sold!

Gawd I hate/love this sport! New Kmod, new turbo........etc etc etc lol!
