Couple of Questions for XP guys

1. The rollers in my QRS driven clutch seem quite loose on the pin, how much
slack should I be seeing?

2. Since gas gauge is almost useless (very erratic) and it is sometimes nice to
know when to go on or turn around...I'm wondering if anyone has come up
with an idea to actually check fuel level when on the mountain? Coming
home with gas left is disappointing....not getting home when out of fuel
maybe more disappointing! Have considered the old transparent fuel line
sight gauge thing, but would be reluctant to try to tap in thus creating a
possible leak.

Any idea's would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Seems like most of BRP's gas levels should be measured as B.S. levels! LOL:D

09 xp light on dash blinking for about 10-15 miles before running out about 1 mile from truck:o snow was to good to back when first started blinking.:beer; could only get 9 gallons in tank even after trying to get air out of tank:confused:

roller

there is some play in them side to side but not much. You should not be able to lift them up and down. If you can lift them up and down, take the roller out and see if it is getting ovaled inside. If it is then its time to replace. As for the gass I dont know.

say if you have any ovaling going on you should check your ramps for flat spots. If you are getting flatspots then replace all rollers, all ramps, I would measure the inner sheave bushing and the outer one to see if there still in the acceptable level. From now on every 500 miles im going to replace all rollers, the 2 bushings im talking about and see if I can avoid replacing the ramps if their not bad. The inner bushings wear out and generally cause the rollers to grenade as well which grenades the ramps. good luck

1. time for new rollers. I have some for $50 they are the HIGH-TORQUE brand.
2. try and have your sled tilted up on the front while filling and buy an extra can. :D

I have yet to see a ski-doo that the gas gauge was true on the machine....

Or any sled, for that matter.:rolleyes:

My solution...always carry spare gas. When you run out, it is time to head back. Then you know you have 3 gallons of gas to get home on.

Ditto, I usually hit 35 or 40 miles and add my spare gas. The blinking fuel light is worthless, mine was blinking and I had just put 10 gallons in the tank.

Go by mileage

The blinking fuel light is worthless, mine was blinking and I had just put 10 gallons in the tank.

I fill mine up and it says I'm 3-4 bars short of being full! I've also filled up and the low fuel light came on and stayed on all day! These gauges are POS. I just go by mileage. Reset in the parking lot before every trip. These are personal standards given the varying snow and riding conditions: Min. miles til empty 65 and a Max of 95. Closest I've come to running out is 1.4 gallons left doing 48 miles of DEEP stuckfest pow that day.

PS. We will never go riding again without a siphon...friends rev needed it.
Probably should consider a spare jerry can, but those are a total rip off! At $90 for a 2-3 gallons!

I don't know if it worked any better but the race sleds had a clear tube that ran up the outside of the tank to show the level in the tank. Kind of like the old Yammi Enticers and such... Check out the parts catalog, shows it there.
