Want to take a trip to ride out your way around the Pattys Day Holiday
(3/14-3/17). Never ridden the area and have been threatening to do so for years, now alll we need is some local knowledge, riding areas, where to stay, eat, etc. Would love to hook up with local folks and ride some good terrain.

I know this is alot to ask, but I appreciate any info I can get, Thanx.

If you want asphalt to the snow, Lamoille Canyon is the place to ride. About 1 mile before you get to the city of Lamoille there is a canyon that takes you into the heart of the Ruby's. Drive up the Canyon to the snowline. You'll have about 6 miles of the bumpiest trail/road you've ever ridden in your life. At the end of the Canyon you'll find big bowls, a few highlakes, narrow technical chutes, and a few cornices to climb and fly from. Overall, it's a rather small but fun place to ride. The present day Ruby's have 99,000 acres of wilderness and only about 2,000 acres of legal terrain. The Red Lion Casino is a plush, yet reasonable place to stay. O'Carrol's in Lamoille serves a great lunch. Muley's restaurant in Spring Creek (between Lamoille and Elko) serves up great steak sandwich. The Star Restaurant in Elko has the best steak sandwich in the country. We should have excellent snow for the next month. Here's a few pictures of the terrain up Lamoille Canyon.

Have to agree with the local.
Red Lion is great, Lamoille canyon (sp) is great (don't go out of bounds as the riding is worse the further you go:rolleyes:) Big Rib Eye steaks at the Star.

dont let them fool you about riding outside the legal area i know your not supose to but once you go over liberty pass it is some of the best bowls and hill climbs you will find but dont get caught and even if you dont go over the pass its still awsome

i have been to elko in the summer and yes, the steak sandwich at the star must be the best in the country! great lunch joint!
i went up the lamollie canyon road and it sure looks like some nice riding country! would love to make a trip down there and ride!
