Cottonwood trees are changing in the river bottoms

Been meaning to post this now for over two weeks.
Was down to 43° yesterday morning here.

The Cottonwoods at the Florence Bridge (on the Bitterroot River) have been turning yellow.
They truly do start changing pretty quickly after the solstice.

Not long until the elk start to rub and begin bugling.

Oh...and we always get our first snow dusting on the peaks around here in late Aug. :)

I know right where that is at. Wish I was there to see it.
The days are getting shorter but the heat and humidity sure aren't going away. Thanks for sharing. It's encouraging!

There is no sign of winter where I am working here in Billings, or as I like to call it, Mojave North. This has been the hottest, most depressing, summer I can remember. Usually I start to get excited for fall and a little hunting, just not feeling it this year. Hoping for an early winter and a cool fall.
