Corona Pass / Winter Park Folks...

Last year we were riding Corona and decided to see where the logging road led that goes past the Hourglass meadow. We ended up riding into this little neighborhood (I don't know what else to call it) with about 20 little cabins. We went past these cabin and ended running into a plowed road. These cabins are not accesible in the winter only by sled. Anyways does anyone know where these cabins are? How to access them from 40? It was a cool little area where these cabins were and I want to see if any are for sale.

I'm guessing you're looking at county rd 8, I'm sure Tec or one of the other WP guys will hop on with a confirmation or correction though.

If the trail you went down was really bumpy!, I believe you are talking about an area called the Batson Tracks or Hurd Creek Estates/Shacks depending on which house you are checking out. Actually a pretty cool area with good access and a lower price point than the CR 8 area. The plowed road you came to is CR 848, off of CR 841. It would be good to have another sledder represented in that area but you wont have many friends if you move in. Someone up there likes to put nasty notes on your sled or truck written on Grand County Sheriff business cards. They picked up the cards somewhere, then pretending the deputy, they write a note saying that Sled access is illegal or something else defamatory against sledders. Access is not illegal if parking on a county road and not blocking traffic or home owner access which I confirmed with the Sheriff Deputy. He also wasn't happy about someone using his business cards.

Hope that helps. There are a couple areas like this in that area, but this is the only one with dedicated national forest access, which might change in the coming years depending who buys the private ground further up Hurd Creek Road. There is a pretty good short sale listing right now up Hamilton Creek (Home/8 acres/$250k) which is right next this area.

I think this is around the area I came to. From google earth you would have to vome in from the turn off for meadow creek res. The cabins were really small though and real close to each other, more like sheds than cabins LOL...I'll just take a drive up there soon and see what I see. I'm not to worried about making friends...don't have any now anyways....

Thanks for the info guys!!
