Corona Pass Recon 11-17-10

So as a preemptive Conditions report that I'm sure some peeps want to know...Here goes. Does Corona Pass have some snow = Yes The main roads are groomed for tours, so road riding = good. If you know where the rocks, stumps, and other obstacles are buried then there is some off trail. This last snow will settle out to give a really good base. It's easy to dig to the dirt so take it easy, things aren't set up awesome yet, but there are some good spots. I shined a stump today while trying to be careful so go at your own risk. Good to meet Tec and manbearpig today.

remember the game show where they would flip over a card and if a whammi came up they sounded the gong and you were f'd. big stiff arm.

TH is in Lakota. its one of the worse around and i had a nice dogleg left going with the truck/trailer last weekend and the hard left uphill turn you need to make. denver water maintains but does a terrible job. end of season is even worse, the road quickly becomes a single track with no room to park.

If its snowy don't stop at the T in the road as your coming up the hill...just power thru left.

SLid all the way down that hill with a fourplace...well almost....the bank stopped me

yeah, i did the same thing last year. Had to get Tec's dually to pull me up the hill.

I started sliddin back.....looked over at SKiB and said "oh chit what should I do"....STEER he says

LOL

Huh, I guess I am not the only one to slide backwards down that hill. I guess the upsipe is/was, I have a new set of tires for this year that hopefully grip better than the old ones.

Was that you Sunday? lol

Man, that uphill at the T sucks. I slid down backwards in a buddy's truck last year and the trailer jackknifed into the berm to stop us. Another time I lost momentum after turning left when it was slick as snot and was able to stop near the top without sliding down to put chains on to save it. You got hit it fully committed.

I guess years ago you used to be able to unload adt the robberst roost campground and ride up from there (last switcback at bottom of pass) but they closed it. Probably so we cold all get stuck in Lakota.

Good to hear I'm not the only one to slide down that hill. Some jack *** from Denver water board just sat and watched me as I unhitched the trailer, turned it around, and used straps to hold it to my bumper while another guy kept the tongue pointed in the right direction.

My trailer came around on that T last year. Only had 400 miles on my new F150 too. Guess I had to break in the bumper sometime. This year I'm rock'n the Marathon Deck.

Hey Tec.....you been up on Corona lately?? How are the conditions?

Thx.
