Corldless Impact??

I'm looking at getting a cordless impact and not sure what to buy? Kinda looking at the Makita btd 140. Does anyone have one and do they like? Not sure if i would like having the qwik connect or just buy a 3/8. Any info would be appreciated!

I have several..I have 2 dewalts, friend has a makita....we both have snap-on's....the makita has slightly more power then the dewalts..but the dewalts will go twice as long on a battery..the makita and 1 dewalt were bought new at the same time(4 yrs ago) and the dewalt still looks pretty new..the makita looks like crap...shows lots of wear on the body and the arbor.....but nothing compares to the snap-ons..they have way more power and battery life is good...with the snap-on impact there isnt much it wont unbolt(wont break loose 1 ton lug nuts but will do most 1/2 tons)the snap-on is expensive(around 600.00) but it will last a lifetime if you take care of it....

I looked at a Dewalt, but it was a tad bit heavier. Arent the new Makita lion batteries supposed to be the chit??

I dont know..my buddies is 4 yrs old and the batteries dont last at all compared to the dewalts...(we work togeather at night and on the weekends preping new 4 wheelers, sleds and motorcycles for a big company)I have turned both my deawalts over to the kids(they help do preps as well) and I use the snap-on as does my buddy...I doubt the makita even with a better battery will last a liferime or do everything you want(if you use it alot and use it on stuff with tight fastners any thing 3/8 or over that is tight neither the makita or the dewalt will break loose)if your going to use it alot and on tight fastners..buy a snap-on..you will have a quality tool and it will do what you want as well as last a life time...

Dewalt use it a ton in the mud and snow has never missed a beat. We abuse the batteries and they just keep going.

I have 1/2" 18 volt dewalt, does not have the power I thought it would though. I wish I would have looked at a Makita first maybe. Dewalt is large also.

the makita doesnt have much more then the dewalt...and neither will break loose a tight 3/8 bolt....(at least not our 3/8 drive impacts...)our snap-on's will bust off tight 3/8 bolts if you arnt careful....

I have recently purchased 3 Milwaukee 1/2" impacts for the ship. They are used a lot and I haven't heard any complaints from the crew. They had the DeWalts but they didn't hold up to the continuious use.

after buying and using every one on the market at one time or another, the milwalkee was the one to beat in power and batt life. the blue point 3/8 is a close second my .02

Check on the Mac cordless impacts as well. A guy at our shop bought one (a lot cheaper than the Snap-On I might add) and it works really well. It doesn't replace a air impact but it for everything else it works pretty damn well. Just my two cents:)

I have had a 3/8 makita 9.6 volt for atleast 10 years now. It has been a good impact. One of the battries went bad about 3 years and the other once is on its way out. I would say i did pretty good on a set of batteries.

I bought the 18v 1/2" Makita a couple years ago and love it. Little turd has some power. After I bought mine 6 others in the shop bought the same kit, 2 of which were using 1/2" Snap On's before.

Another vote for the snap on. They are very powerful and last a lifetime. If not, their warrenty is unbeatable and then they just became much more reasonable in price once you have worn it out and they replace it for little or nothing.
