First of all i want to say i love the sled. Gobs of power. Super smooth. Maybe I'm getting lazy in my old age but I kinda like just turning a key.

Now for my beef about the coolant tank.
First of all why in the heck is there a seam right through the middle of it. My sled has started to leak in that seam.

I am currently waiting for a new tank.

Second thing now that I have a leak the rocket scientists at arctic cat made the tank black so you cant just look at the level but they stuffed it up under a hood that has to be removed and then looked into to see the level. And to do that it has to be cold.

Now that I have vented does anyone have a suggestion on how to limp through the weekend.

Thanks

I've replaced 2 on the same sled, it is a ****ty setup. I have plastic welded a couple together on the seam where it was leaking while waiting for warranty replacements. A heavy duty soldering gun works best. Use a plastic wire tie for a filler rod if you have to. Old car audio tricks on broken panels.

More crappy tanks....

Fixed another one today for Big Dawg on his '12 HCR. I just wanted to see his SC300 174 work today and ended up taking the tank out at the end of the trail. Would have fixed on the hill but the butane soldering gun was low on gas. Who carries that on their sled....the stereo sled guy lol. You wouldn't believe what that thing has fixed on the hill.

Why I'm riding Cold Puss's stereo sled and not my SC300 174 is the topic of a completely different thread lol.

FYI all the bad tanks I've seen/fixed have been on '12's. Haven't seen one on a '13.....yet.

I haven't looked close enough at mine, but could it be replaced with a clear bottle from an older cat?

A huge thx too justboostit and the wkm boys for all the help the other day with my split coolant tank, we tore the sled down on the hill to get the tank out Gene ran down to town welded up and run it buck up... Was like a NASCAR pit crew putting back together before dark. Got it done and rode out with no issues.....thx again to everyone for all the help.

Mine is a limited with about 400 miles and 25 hours on it. Never ran in a low snow condition. I do notice the pipe and muffler got hot enough to make a couple of the breather hoses hard and brittle. Might be something to check when we are all wrenching. As well as the hose that comes off the front of the tank had a split in it.

Are you just seeing this on the HCR?

Any of them. You'd think more HCR just because they do run warmer on the trail but they split anywhere and all different models from what we have replaced. All M stuff thou as that is what we mostly sell.
