Coolant leak by y pipe???

I have coolant slowly dripping off the bottom of the y pipe. Has anyone else Witnessed this? What was the cause/fix? It's a very small amount and just started happening in the past few weeks without the sled even being run....

It is the hoses where it goes into the engine below the exhaust valves, Two coolant lines. The mickey mouse clamps are not very good. I had to flex them in to get them tighter. Plus you cannot get to them with out removing the exhaust valves.

Of course this may not be your issue but that is where I would check first. Mine was dripping right don on the Manifold.

What do you mean by flex them in? I was suspecting those clamps. Should I replace with something else?

Could yes, there is about no room to replace with any thing else. I removed them and flex them back tight. Or over flexed them back tight! The hose really is too large and the nipple should be barbed. Crazy loose fit right there!

With the coolant cap on there is minimal mess when you pull the lines. But again you do need to pull the Exhaust valves to gain room. That is a bit tight if you have not done it but possible non the less! Good time to clean them while your there.

I just noticed this on my 17 as well.

"Hmmmm, why is there no coolant in the reservoir?... Ohhhh there it all is, in the bottom of my bulkhead and in the middle of the Y pipe like a mini green pool"

Perfect!!!! Gotta love the craftsmanship on a 13k machine.

Upgrade them to Gates Power Grip Clamps

If the hoses are rubber and there is not much clearance; my choice would be to get the correct size Gates Power Grip clamps and shrink them on there. Done and Done.

My warranty is gone but yes I would definitely do a claim. Of course if you want to be without your sled for a bit...

If anything they need to know there is an issue there.

Yea the problem we snowmobilers are the season are short and we want our machines :) But we are also the best customers out there, easy to please :P

And its realy good that ppl post here about it!

Update.....

I found the cause of my leak. I installed a SLP y pipe gasket, which is slightly oversized and it was pushing up on the stock clamps causing a leak. I removed the excess gasket material, and all is good again.
