Converting to premix on 04 summit 800 good idea?

IMO, it was one of the best changes to my sled. Yeah, its a PITA to pre-mix all the time but I know exactly how much oil I'm using. My sled has never run so clean. I never streak, idle without loading up ... and have gone through less oil than my riding buds. Best yet, the throttle pull is nothing. your thumb will thank you. Oh, the install was easy!:D

here's the parts list:
Ski-Doo 420810825 Cover Plate (block off plate)
Ski-Doo 420931565 Gasket (for block off plate)
Ski-Doo 512060141 Ecm Support (bracket that pull cord, oil tank, and ECM mounts to)
Ski-Doo 271000110 Protector Trim (protects water hoses from getting punctured from bracket)
Ski-Doo 518324951 Plate (ECM sits on this)
Ski-Doo 570069700 Latch (holds ECM)
Ski-Doo ????? 440 oil tank.

excellent idea. You don't need the 440 tank either. You can drill and tap a 1/8-27 npt in the cover. Install a 90 degree elbow fitting and run and hose from it up the the fitting about 4" above. You fill the water pump cavity with oil till the level is equal with where the cases part. The tube is just a sight glass so you know the oil level is good. If your sled sucks oil from the cavity your inner crank seals are bad.

Seems to work for our machines.

Since 2004 the 600, and 800HO Snow Hawks come with the snow cross water pump oil tank. With as many machines in the fleet and the group it seems every year I'm telling one of the guy's to check it for the first time, luckily capacity is good for more then a season.

Our manufacturers recommendation for 600, and 800HO is 32:1, and 40:1, yet we have gone as far as 56:1 with some oils.

I went to premix on my 02 from day one. It still runs great even with the stock jetting that everyone else complains about. It runs very crisp, starts good all the time.

Anyone wanna take the time to explain the installation process??


Is premix as good on the low end bearings as injected oil? Sice the oil has been deluted longer in the fuel? Does that affect the lubicity of the oil??? Just thinkin outloud here.
