considering a mech. reverse install, need parts?

After some consideration, I want to get reverse on my wife's sled. She currently has a '05 M7, 153. It's got plenty of power for her, (she's light) but no reverse.

I can put a DD with mech. reverse in it, and figure out a switch, or even make a cable actuator (I suspect) to keep weight down, but I would need a DD from an M8 (correct gearing) and the shorter drive shaft. If someone was planning to remove reverse to go with the DD lite, I could trade drivelines with you, and buy your DD w/rev to help offset the cost?

My other option, is to just sell the sled outright, and get her a different sled.

Any takers? Any ideas or thoughts?

TTT for you. Sounds like a fun project. Someone has to have a M8 mechanical reverse DD they want to get rid of? Hook this guy up!

it'd be cheaper and easier to just buy a sled with reverse. the 05/06 diamond drives do not interchange with the 07/08...

I think you are wrong, because a '05-'06 should bolt right into a '07-'08 as long as you use the '05-'06 driveshaft. Now the other way around I don't think will work because their is nowhere on the M7 chassis for the reverse actuator to fit I don't think. I know it is the same hole and bolt pattern in the tunnel, and if you went with a shorter drive shaft off of a mechanical reverse sled that would work, but just don't think the actuator and solenoid is going to work out for you.

They changed the layout as far as shape and mounts when they went with the mech reverse in 07. The 09+ is interchangable with the 07-08 but other than that you would have to make your own plate to mount the dd to. I thought the mech reverse also kicked the revs down pretty low when shifting into reverse? In either case it'd be much easier and cheaper to go with a sled already equipted with reverse.
