Canadian medicine is way more costly then any of us realize. Health care was at one point funded primarily funded by the federal govt. Now it is funded and administered by the provinces. We have so many socialist trappings in our country (federal provincial transfer payments). We in the affluent west pay for our lazy, non productive countrymen. Google Canadian health care transfer payments to see the real truth. We are because of this socialized system getting farm team doctors as the cream of the medical profession have gone south for bigger paychecks. Also the more you make the more you pay in our system. Bucky in BC my tax rates (corporate and personal) are more like 45-50%! Not including the hidden taxes. Every home I build generates over $100 thou in direct taxes (Municipal, federal & Provincial). I wish I was making what the govt's are on my business. Maybe they want to help with my capitol financing costs. I risk a lot of my capitol so they can make more than I do! Rant over, let the snow fly!

i know grizz, i agree that the system is not perfect and needs fixing! in alberta we spend more per capita than any other province! something like 13 billion on health care. but it's NOT as bad as some people would make it out to be! not perfect, but not terrible either. we really need to get the spending under control though! big time!!!!!

You guy's make good points i guess sometimes all the hidden stuff is what kills us, lately though it seems like the taxes we pay in B.C. are all going to the freakin olympics they are the only thing in this province that hasn't had any cutbacks its a complete joke but thats a different story... I don't think Obama will make this fly with the American people anyways, Enough said.
