Gavin Balls took a 1st place in the 700 improved class at the Jackson Hill Climb! There's a lot of people that have said it couldn't be done. Gavin also had a 3rd and Chad Jorgensen placed 4th in 700 mod. Congrats to all involved with the Factory Yamaha team.

But but but vipers are a 4 stroke! I thought everyone said they can't compete.

It's time for folks to open their eyes, Yamaha is back.

I use to race 700 IMP stock 15 years ago. I figured that class was long gone. What sleds race in that class now? Eric

Because nobody has a 700 anymore most of the sleds are highly modifed 600s. There are a few 700 rmk and M7 mod sleds that run the class. Pretty much anything goes in the mod class, just have to have a 700 or smaller engine size.

700 improved class must maintain stock appearance and engine characteristics. You can run exhaust or internal mods, but no boost.

Then what makes a 700 IMP different then a 700 MOD?

700 improved has to maintain stock appearance and is for things like porting, head mods, revalved stock suspension etc. Sled has to LOOK and Maintain stock appearance in this class. 700 mods is turbo, different skids, really anything you want as long as the engine size is 700 or below.

So Gavin's 700 IMP stock sled was natural aspirated? WOW that is awesome.
