Conditions at Cottonwood or Georgia Pass?

How are conditions at Cottonwood? We haven't ridden in a couple of weeks and are planning on riding Cottonwood on Friday. How is the road in from the Avalanche lot?

We rode this past Saturday. The Avalanche parking lot was bare asphalt, the road out was showing some bare spots and the snow pack was real thin for a decent stretch up the road. Close to Denny Creek and on past it, conditions were good. The snow up top was hard pack but there is still plenty of it. We went over the pass and rode the drainage all the way down until it joined up with the road. Lotsa holes showing in the creek so watch out if you ride the drainage. As we got more toward Taylor Park, the side meadows had a layer of crust on top of large crystals and if you didn't stay on the gas you were done for. We didn't stay on that side for long, got back to the drainage and rode it back on up to the road and back over the pass. If you go over the top, I recommend going no farther than where the drainage meets back up with the road. There is good tree riding in that whole section.

I was up that way on thursday and Dan is correct.. The parking lot and trail leaving the parking lot are melted out.. The road is melted at the trailhead as well.. You only have to ride a bit of asphalt to get to the snow and once you get up in elevation there is still a ton of snow..

I hope that they will plow the road up to Denny Creek because soon there is going to be a ton of asphalt you cant avoid between denny creek and avalanche..
