Computer guys, I need HELP!

Has anyone else got one of those viruses floating around on Windows Messenger? It sends a link randomly to everyone on your contact list, and if you open it, it freaks out your computer...

It's causing my laptop to do all sorts of crazy stuff... Any ideas?

Is Norton Antivirus pretty decent? I'm looking to drop this thing off at the shop, or just get a good program that's easy to use, because i'm pretty computer illiterate....

I would try uninstalling messenger. then reinstall it off the web. If that dose not work try Spt Bot its a free and easy to use. If that dose not work I probaby would have someone to look at it. You could also try Norton not a huge fan of it but it might work.

yes because of that messenger link they shut messenger down at work...

if you are having problems try this.. make sure you have all of you windows updates. then go to Trend Micro Housecall http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ run the full scan it will take atleast an hour to run this does a virus scan and a spyware scan all in one. as for getting a virus scanner I would look at AVG its all I have run for years and it is free.

Norton is the worst step you could take. Spybot isnt much better. AVG isnt going to help a lot with spyware either.
First thing, download this: http://update6.mwti.net/download/tools/mwav.exe and run a ascan. Let me know what you find.

As a network administrator, Norton Antivirus is not what it should be. I recommend NOD32, http://www.eset.com .
To resolve your issue of sending the link, go into your hotmail email account and change your password. Should take care of the problem.

Excellent antivirus software. Not so hot for spyware unfortunately.

I got talked into Trend Micro over norton's & I'm happy as hell with it.. My norton's used to give me all kinds of false alerts. Not trend... Get it dewd.

Ok,in all probability..i'm dumber than j-roc. Norton's been on mine since purchase of the puter,it's due for renewal @midnite today. You guy's in the "know it"make up my mind.

STAY AWAY from Norton. Nothing but headaches. Trend, AVG for the Viruses and Ad-Aware, spybot for the spyware. The guys who create these viruses and spyware **** need to take up sledding, it'd make everyones lives a lot better.

I'm NOT gonna if i can help it. Can't stay hooked to net long enough to get to my email to find password to nortonmyaccount and cancel auto renewal. all sites are just timing out on me.friggin server!
