computer guys, I got antilive

Yep I got antivirus live yesterday.

tried both maleware and microsoft security to get rid of it. both claimed to have found and removed crap. But it is still on the computer throwing up warnings.

I need to get rid of this so I can log on at home. Any ideas?

Trying running in safemode with no networking, and getting rid of it there...

If that doesnt work... reformat.

I have no idea.

Saturday I set up a Skype account, otherwise normal sites.

Sunday I logged onto the other site and this one for a morning check. Also checked out yelehaiti for info on the quake.

Got back on around noon and started getting the fake pop-up warnings about infections.

Restart your computer and hold F8, need to do this before you see the windows logo, otherwise you have to retry. This applies to all Windows (2000, XP, Vista, 7)

Once you get it booted in safemode, run your antivirus/spyware programs, I use AVG, Ad-Aware, and Spybot Search & Destroy. All free programs, Norton, Mcafee and the others are junk, don't use them.

You need to make sure everything related to the virus is gone, otherwise when you boot in normal mode, you'll get it back.

If all else fails, backup your files up to an external hard drive, jump drive, cds or whatever, and reformat the computer (I do this once a year anyways.).

That sucks!! Stay in safe mode for reboot after fix......just to make sure it's clean while doing a re-check.

mine got a virus same day either here or hardcore sleddar. i turn it on i get all the pop ups and then the comp says it detects somthing and shuts down in 60 secs. anything i can do? or should i take it in to get fixed

I'd run what you have, and probably get AVG, and the other ones I listed above, they're free, and work good might as well utilize them. Make sure all of them are up to date before you scan. If it were me I'd just run them once, but don't use the quick scan crap.

It might be beneficial to read up on the virus too, via google (Or Catwoman's links), I've never heard of this one, nor read up on it at all... so there may be an easier way to get rid of it.

I think this is an older one, I remember years and years ago, open up my browser and my computer would restart itself... I think this was one of the bigger ones?

In any case, I'd do the same as stated above.
