Compression

What should the compression be for a 2004 600 REV?
How to check properly throttle wide open or closed?
Warm or cold?
Any info would be appreciated

A lot depends on the compression guage. You definitely want to be over 115 on both sides, but perhaps more importantly, each side should be within about 8 PSI of each other. If one is significantly lower, you have a problem.

04 800

Sorry I cant answer for the 600 however, my 04 800 with double ring pistons, stock head, has 155 both sides. Cold eng, three pulls with the throttle wide open. Engine has about 300 miles on this setup. Sled had 135 pto, and 128 mag, with the single chrome ring doo piston with 2000 miles on the rings and 3700 miles on the pistons. Elevation is 2200 feet, Hope this helps, Dino

Thanks for this post. I tested my 04 800 the other day and got 120 cold on both sides. Throttle wide open. I thought that a was a bit low? Seems to run fine with about 2400kms or 1400 miles. :beer;

Great info, Thanks Dino, especially since we both are at 2200'. I have a couple questions for you:

1. What brand piston are you running now?
2. Was there a noticeable difference in power with new pistons/higher compression?

MCB, Duel ring. Didnt feel like more power but No power fade on multiple climbs up the hills, and starts way easyer. ;) Dino
