Part numbers are different when comparing 2009 assault to 2010 assault hand warmer element.
2009 # 2410777
2010 # 2411087

whats the difference?

Im installing a 800 cfi motor in a IQR and would like to use the assault/dragon heaters (as im told there higher heat because of the aluminum bars) but im unsure which ones to order. I have a 2009 800 RMK Shift wiring harness if that matters.
Thanks
Jason

The 2009 800 Shift ran the left hand switch cluster... so the wiring is set up for a high/med/low element.

If you are not going to retain the Left hand switch cluster (contains the PERC button, gauge mode/select button, hi/low headlight, high/low thumb heater, hi/med/low grip heater and brake light switch (12 wires in all I believe)... you will either have to take the rear half of the switch from the bars and mount it to the console as a unit OR... cut the wires, install the proper connectors on them and run them carefully to your other switches.

What kind of bars are you running? Aluminum/Ti, Carbon Wrapped aluminum, or steel??

Part number 2411087 is a Hi / Low element and is intended for the dragon/assault hi/low switch in the console...I also hear that this one has a bit higher output on high to compensate for the aluminum bars. Probably too hot for the steel bars.

Part number 2410777 is a Hi / Med / low element and made for the 3 position switch in the non Dragons/non-assaults (like yours). This element has a shorter lead wire on it than the 1087.

I don't know why the 2009 assault would have been equipped with the 0777 warmers unless it is a misprint... the '09 assault had the aluminum bars and 2 (not 3) position console switch.... same as the 2009/10 RMK-Dragons and 2010 Assaults.

I will be running the left hand switch cluster (or atleast thats the plan as of now) Will the assault/dragon elements plug into my harness and work with that switch? Or do i need to run the rocker switch?

The 087's will work with the LH control, the RMK 2 position switch, or the IQR 2 position switch. I've used them on my plain vanilla RMK's the last three years with the LH control and Pro-Tapers.

The 087's on steel bars will will make way too much heat and "may cause serious injury or death." :face-icon-small-hap

The 1087's will make too much heat on Carbon Wrapped aluminum bars as well.

As Rick said, they share the same connector into the sled harness.

I ended up with RSI aluminum bars and the 1087 heaters using the LH control mounted to a duhecky i made up that mounts up toward the top of the console.

TY to all for your help, and yes it is good info.

Can never get too much huh. LOL. Best part about heaters on the Carbon Fibers is that if they do get too hot you can turn them down or off at the switch.

Wade!!!!

Good to see you back on here... Show season should be behind you.

What about your heaters??? any info from you on those?

How is stock on the grips, heaters, etc now?

Eric, Yes SHOWS are done for the year. Man like 9 of them.

The Polaris heaters for the PT bars are hotter than the std RMK steel bars heaters. Our heaters are hotter than either of the POL heater. Remember that handguards are a tremendous help in keeping the hands warm alowing use of a thinner glove.

We recomend our grip glue with our heaters because of the heat properties of them. Our glue will not breakdown until 250 deg F, If your heaters get that hot you got more problems than the grip glue holding. Grips spin when they get hot, our glue works on any grip and heater.

How's this MH, My condolonces MH,

Iput aluminum bars on my dragon and they only got hot when I was on the gas I used the stock dragon heaters thinking that the bars were aluminum and should work nifty used the RSI heaters with there race bars and now ther hot at idle!V
