Communication question

Is anyone using portable 2-ways (uhf/vhf) with mics and ear pieces ? Does this work ? Will it mess with the beacons ?

We use them all the time and they work well for what we need them for. The wired earpieces are not as neat and clean as the helmet mounted communicators, but they are a lot less pricey too.....


I have no idea if they mess with the beacons - my guess would be "no" since a lot of skiers and sledders use radios to keep in touch with each other on the hill and it would have been brought up by now I would think.....

In mike duffy avy class he said to turn off all other electronics when using beacons in real search situation. Never tried it though

yeah, I remember him saying that too, but I could'nt remember what he said about the guy that was buried with one on , weather or not that would be a problem or not .
