Me and a buddy are coming out to Colorado the we're looking for a area that's not too crowded a good place to stay and a guide or at least someone to follow out to a good zone or two and suggestions will be greatly appricated.

As far as good snow goes, anyplace in the state that has trails or legal access should be good.

Do you have your own machines or do you need to rent? If you have your own machies, what are they? Do you have Colorado stickers (only $35)? What type of riding do you want to do (hills, trees, meadows, trails)? Do you have your own helmets and clothing or need to rent? Do you have avalanche gear? Where are you coming from (sea level), are you giving yourself any acclimation time in Denver, or are you coming straight up to the mountains?

I'm not trying to be a jack azz, I just want to throughly answer your question.

We have rmk and gear bca tracker etc. going to buy an avy bag I've been to Tahoe and rode between 6 and 10k so I'm not too worried about altitude we're looking for hills and trees and like exploring new zones. We're not familiar with Colorado and is fully aware of the dangers of getting lost or socked in an area so we would hire a guide or follow a group. We would like to stay somewhere close the the trail out. Thanks for the response

C'mon down to the SW corner of the state. What's another 6 hours when you're coming this far? Stay in Pagosa Springs or Durango & you'll have plenty of options. (Wolf Creek, Chama, Silverton, Mancos) We have plenty of snow with more storms coming.

Originally from WNY... :face-icon-small-win

Now my buddie is talking about Leadville he has a friend there. How's the riding there is there and good places to stay (lodging with a kitchen). I'm actually kind of skeptical about this area is my gut right?

Grand Lake.

You can ride from town (legal to ride on streets of town) or trailer to Idelglen parking area (6-7 miles from town). Lots of tree riding, hills, well groomed trails. You don't necessarily need a guide, but there are plenty of people here that will show you around, myself included if I'm not working. There's lots of good lodging in town and plenty of houses/condos to rent as well (VRBO?). Good luck!

hahns peak is where Id go lots of groomed trails and all kinds of riding from big parks to tree covered hills and steep climbs, not to mention the view!!! 30min north of steamboat,
