My brother and I are on a Christmas snowmobile adventure. We are driving from Colorado to Washington and will be there starting tonight the 23rd.

Any advice or people to ride with? We are advanced riders with Pro RMKs. We are thinking Colville, Baker and Leavenworth areas but will go anywhere we can find fresh snow or people to ride with.

Here's a link to some pictures from last weekend in Colorado.

Thanks,
Mark

Snow is goood about eveywhere now. Take a look at the riding areas/trail maps posted above. Very informative with directions to the sno parks etc.
Read the areas people are posting about and try those.

Baker and the immeadiate area--contact Northwest Glacier Cruisers.

As for Colville and Leavenworth--I have nothing except if you want to do the Chelan area--close to Leavenworth--contact Wimpy here on the forum--he is the expert up there!!

If you are looking at the I-90 corridor--I can help ya out.

good luck and you might want to check but in the western part of washington on Christmas day and nite we are suppose to get another big dumping of powder (might be bad visibility) but other than that it will be colarado deep for shure. enjoy, just don't let all the californians find out, lol.:face-icon-small-coo

Depends on what you want?

If you like technical tree lines and wind blown ridges= Gold creek, salmon la sac(I90 corridor)

If you like steep and deep, cliff drops and wide open terrain= Baker(hwy 20)

If you like groomed trails and occasional meadow openings=Leavenworth/fish lake(hwy2)

Thanks for all the ideas! There is a lot to choose from with a hundred plus sno-parks and it being our first time riding WA.

We are headed to Wenatchee tonight then we are going to ride off 97 or 90 tomorrow. We might then head for Baker.

If anyone is riding this week and wants to join us that would be great.

I will post some pictures once we start riding.

Mark

Launch from Blewett since your so close. Little bit of everything, go check out Lion Rock.

I would suggest Blewett. The park is at the top of hwy 97 and you can get to hill climbs and open areas rather quickly. The snow park is on the east side of the hwy. The elevation starts off at 4500ft and goes up rapidly from there so the snow tends not to be as heavy as starting out at gold creek off the I90 area. Have fun, be safe, and Merry Christmas.:yo:
I would suggest finding someone that knows the Baker area and to really try to hit it on a clear day. I'm tied up with the family this week. When Baker clouds up, we usually bail out. Beacons and probes are a must.

Today seems like it would be a good day at Baker, partly cloudy with a few burst of sun. As for riding locations I generally ride in secluded areas near Baker where no one else goes. I have been to Baker and as you have heard it is a great place to go, last time I went was on a monday and they groomed the trail which makes the day even better. That was last year so I am not sure what the grooming schedule is this year.

Nice pic's, let us know what you think of Washington riding before you leave town. :face-icon-small-con

Colorado cool aid

I'd go back home unless you like sledding in cement as we typically get wet snow here. Hell u could be ridin with Burandt in Kremling fool. But that said since ur here already I'd look at Manastash area, Liberty, St Helens is better than Baker, Lake Anne/Gallegher area high country out of Cle Elum. Over the top!!

We rode Mount Baker out of Concrete yesterday and fought rain, fog and bad light all day. Fortunately we met a Snowshark and Mike in the parking lot and they showed us around. We made it part way up and played in between Sulphur and Railroad then came back down to Schreibers Meadow.

Mount Baker is awesome and wish we could have ridden it on a clear day. But still happy we got to ride what we did and make some new friends in the proces.

And thanks to all those who cleared the Baker trail of trees!!!

Tonight we are in Bend and will ride here tomorrow. The snow, terrain and weather is all good here!

Looks like you and bro are having a great time! Who needs Canada anyway's when you can ride in the U.S of A!

Was 5 degrees last night and heat went out in camper but got it going again before we froze. Great snowmobiling in Bend today. Had sun and untracked powder on Sheridan Mountain south of Mt Bachelor. Headed for Idaho tonight as we make our way home.
