Cold Weather problems?

i have a 2010 m8, this weekend i found a problem, it got down to about 10 below zero this weekend and int he morning i went to start it and it fired once but then wouldnt fire after that. another guy i knew had the same exact problem at the same time, we eventually got them to start by holdin the throttle wide open to burn off excess gas in the cylinders, anyone know the cause of this?

I had the same problem under same conditions. It is flooding itself on cold starts. Somebody suggested pulling the rope slowly a couple of times before giving it a good tug to start it, but I haven't had a chance to test this for myself.

Higher Compression

We have experienced the same problem. Just this morning I pulled mine over several times with ignition off and then turned on pulled twice fired and died.
Had to hold throttle wide open and it started and ran rough for awhile.

To answer your ? I think the engine is harder to pull over because of higher compression. Resulting in a slower spin of engine, especially when cold.

When I park inside the engine will fire and run on second pull every time. Noticed it pulls over just a little easier and starts fine.

yea.....i pull a couple times to just to get everythin loosened up and hwat not but still expierenced it.... im just glad to hear that im not the only one with the problem

Had the same issue a couple weeks ago. Pulled and cussed then held the throttle to the bar and started right up. Wondering if it's the throttle stop switch thing????
