coil confusion

I am having a problem with my 08- m1000, I think it is electrical and am wanting to test my coils- The only problem is I am unsure how to do so on this sled.
The directions say "Connect the red meter lead to one high tension wire; then connect the black meter lead to the other high tension wire." Unless I am out to lunch there is only one main output on the coil. There are 4 coils with one plug wire each rather than 2 coils with 2 wires each/ The directions below are for the 800/1000 cc so I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Also under the caps (between wire and sparkplug) there is a ton of black dust is this a symptom of anything in particular? Thank you

IGNITION COIL (Primary)
1. Disconnect the double wire plug from the ECU to
the ignition coil.
2. Set the selector in the OHMS position.
3. Connect the red meter lead to the black/white lead;
then connect the black meter lead to the white/blue
lead.
4. Ignition coil primary resistance must be between
0.24-0.36 ohm.
IGNITION COIL (Secondary)
1. Remove the spark-plug caps from the high tension
wires.
2. Set the selector in the OHMS position.
3. Connect the red meter lead to one high tension
wire; then connect the black meter lead to the
other high tension wire.
4. Ignition coil secondary resistance must be between
5040-7560 ohms

Same problem only when I put on the leads to the org/blk and the red/org my readings on the voltmeter go up until i get an open line. I'm stumped.
