2009 assault. where do i start looking? riding today my lights went out then sled just quit. started up and ran fine for about ten minutes then my speedo guage went out then lost power like limp mode and quit. let sit for a few minutes then runs good. this repeted all the way back home

Voltage regulator, and depending on if it was over charging or under charging it may have smoked the ecm also
I would take your VR and ECU off and flip them over, if you see a bubble or a hot spot on the back there probably toast. But I agree sounds like the VR is on its way out.
thanks guys, i will be out of town until tuesday, and will check it out then . is there a test i can run on them
