Code 520324 13

I got the above code today, and cannot get it to disappear. It indicates the exhaust valve Learn procedure failed. Will the code disappear once I remedy the issue (worn wire, relays, etc) OR will I need to get it reset on digital wrench at dealer?

I have tried a few remedies, but none has cleared the engine light. Be nice to know when the problem has been remedied.

Thanks

Has you’re sled been randomly cutting out and bogging under load?

No; has run flawless until this point. I do have a boondocker sidekick on it.

In terms of chain of events, sled ran flawless all day. After a stuck, noticed engine light on at restart. Tried shutting down and restarting; error code remained.

This morning I traced all the wires from ecu to pwm to actuator; all are good. I also moved my relays between gauge, oiler, ev; still get the error. Also observed actuator at start; fully cycles.

I am thinking it is either the pwm or the sensors in actuator. Going to grab a pwm off a friends sled and try this afternoon.

Any other ideas?

My sled is a 19 RMK with a sidekick as well. Mine was throwing the same code but mine was also bogging and cutting out. I was having to feather the throttle to get the turbo to spool. Once it hit, it would pull fine.

Took the sled to Carl’s and they troubleshot the problem.

Long story short, it ended up being the ECM. $1200 and one warranty denial later, the problem was solved. Hopefully that’s not the case for your sled.

Thx DSD. I did some more digging, remembering the stator connector fiasco. Well...turns out that it looks like this is where it all started yesterday. Eliminated the connector, but still get same message.

Given that sled ran great up to 7100rpm, I assume that the stator and other stuff is fine. Once I check the Pwm, I guess the only other options are ecu and actuator.

Any other ideas??

Yes; tried it with both headlight and load shedding relay to no avail.

I was unable to to try another pwm converter as I had hoped; they changed it on the 850.

Think I might take it in and get the EVS relearned on the digital wrench. Apparently local dealer charges $50 flat to do that. Hopefully that works OR it will highlight something else.

Thx J270wsm.

I got it into the dealer on digital wrench; relearnt EVs and error disappeared. I had them run it up good a few times, and the error did not come back.

The shorted stator connector must have interrupted the start up EV learn causing the error. Fingers crossed!

Ok here is what I’ve done. There are to female spade connectors that I have removed from the wiring harness and now have them connected directly to each other.B606EFF0-0DA8-43D6-AB59-94B5F335812E.jpeg

Both of these connectors have the exact same wires running to them...one red and one red/black wire.
We found that these 2 spade connectors were the same but obviously one was power in and the other power out of the relay.
Since doing this neither of us has had any more issues with exhaust valves. I’ve had my sled at the dealer for a few small things and there isn’t any codes being thrown. Both sled run great.
