CNN Laziness Plagues U.S.A.

Ok, I would really like to see this headline and call a spade a spade. We are creating the laziest society in the world. Lots of people expect a free handout because they are entitled to it. Entitlement only means two things, lack of responsibility and laziness. We need to stand up to politicians who make politics a popularity contest and try to win by pleasing everyone and paying for everyone. This country was founded upon hard work and good principles, that is why it is the land of opportunity. But people who take the responsibility away from individuals perpetuate the problems that plague this nation. I've worked all around the country and I've known communities where wellfare has sustained families for four + generations. Now, I'm still an advocate of helping those in need and lending a helping hand. But that help should not come without some sort of responsibility to follow, either of education or repayment, etc.

I also realize that there are many people who take responsibility and provide for themselves and their families while being honest in their dealings. With you I'll ride!!!

I believe the welfare system was designed to be a hand up, not a hand out... Our town is full of people who abuse the system. too hurt to go to work anymore, but just fine to be out bowling, walking around hunting, etc. Bullsh!t if you ask me. Some people need it for sure. Not somebody who is chronically obese because they can't put down a mickey d's burger.

Great post. I agree 110%. It's not just the USA, it's everywhere. Your neighbor to the north does the same thing. Both countries have set past precedent and with the amount of do-gooders (vs hard workers) around now, the old ways will never come to be.

It's a sad state of affairs IMHO.

Great post. I am a firm believer that anyone willing to work hard can obtain the American dream. I am 69 and have worked in construction all my life have gone from picking rocks to general superintendent and have run my own grading business for 25 years. It hurts me to see how much the work ethic has gone down in later years.
