CMX Kits

i got one!

where do I start? maybe i'll give you a quick synopsis and you can ask specific questions if you have them..

my bike: 2011 KTM 530 xcw (carbureted)

The front:
on the hard pack it requires more body movement and a little counter-steer/lean to go where you want. but still VERY stable feeling. I'm a dirtbiker (only), so I compare it to dirtbiking, and its way more stable than any sand riding I've ever done. the bike tracks very well, and isn't affected much at all by ruts or grooves in the trail. I hit 45 with confidence and only backed off because I started to worry about my ability to stop quickly if I had to :)

in the deeper stuff, absolutely amazing! requires very little effort to steer. I couldn't believe how well the system worked. floatation is great! side hilling is no different than side hilling in the dirt with tires. I literally forgot I was riding in a loose medium almost instantly. there were no nervous situations for me. no wash outs! it all felt natural. my only issue so far is that my fork springs bottomed out on me a bit too easy. I need to go stiffer.

The back:
The rear track system seems to work great. I don't have any comparisons to go off of, but I can say that I was surprised at how easily my engine could turn the CMX track. In the garage, I lifted the back end up, dropped it into first gear, and let out the clutch at idle, fully expecting the engine to flame out, but not even close. the engine just kept purring like it didn't even feel the load, and spun the track effortlessly. impressive! (for both the bike and the track) I have to wonder if a non 500 would do that.

In the snow, it was no different. I was anticipating having to really change my clutching habits to deal with the higher load of the track, but to my surprise there was very little difference at all to how I clutch my dirt bike in the dirt. Very pleased.

one compliant on the rear track system. The cmx belt drive on the right side interferes a little bit with my big foot. I'm a toe on the peg kinda rider and the belt drive compartment makes me have to angle my foot a little bit more than I like to. I don't think its too big a deal though as I got used to it pretty quick.

here's a link to some video I took of my first ride:

I'm going riding again this Friday, so I'll have more video and experience after that.

thanks for you input!

Would be awesome to hear from someone that had ridden a timbersled for at least a year beforehand.

Anyone?

I will have all the info you are looking for in a future review.

I have a 2016 Yamaha YZ450FX with a CMXBK 120 on it. Along side of a TS 120 TSS, and hopefully a Yeti 120 all on the same model of bike.

Be patient. I will end up selling the best unit and give full explanation as to why, but I have to get enough testing done to confidently recommend a unit to my customers. There are so many things that make a great snow bike. Front end, rear suspension, track, customer service, ease of installation, and parts availability. Just to name a few.

TS has set the bar. The competition has to exceed this in all areas to rise to the top. This can not be fully judged in the 7 rides I have on this kit.

Very respectable approach.

Coming off a Timbersled I'm impressed. Timbersled has a great kit but the fit & finish on Marks products is impressive while I don't have enough time to give a full report so far it's been a good purchase. Most importantly Mark & his son Cameron have been great. Their customer service has been excellent going out of there way to back the product you can tell they take pride in the product.

I'll report back when I get more time but so far I wouldn't go back to TS I think CMX & Yeti are a step in the right direction.

here's another quick video for ya.. I decided to try to get at least one video each time I go out. when I was shopping for a snow kit, I just couldn't find any videos on the CMXBK. so I figure the more I post, the better it'll help people see how if functions.

I also have a walk around video that is uploading now. I'll post it soon so you can see the hardware up close. :)
