clutching/ jetting set ups...?

I've got an 05 ves 800 with twin pipes, extensive porting, pod filters, 155 track, and 7 tooth drivers.. I ride at 3000-5000'.. the sled runs great, but I don't feel that I am getting all the power I want to climb hills.. anybody have great luck with a similar setup? What are you running?

I am running all slp spec clutching for a single pipe setup on factory motor...

Clutching is probably the issue since twin pipes for this need to rev 8600 for peak power. If you dont have a higher comp head I recommend it with the ported cylinder (works extremely well)

Im running 04 escape twin pipes, slp porting, 9-12k head, v-force reeds on straight VP C12. 66 gram weights, 58/42 helix ( IIRC ), with 380 mains #3 needle. I ride mostly 5k feet and up. But rejet to 400's for 3-5k

Engine makes a TRUE 178 hp, all motor and rips like no tomorrow. I pull 350 hp nytros out of the hole till half the lake. This is with the spray too though ;) .

? I thought it was 8200 for peak. Or does the porting change that?

Sorry, I forgot regular twins were lower rpm. I have race department twins which are different..

Still would like to find out exact clutching thats in it now.

They are pcs racing custom race twins.. I now have 10-64 weights, with a black and? Spring, and a black and purple spring in the secondary I believe.. I've got a high comp head for it, but it gets really expen$ive running race fuel all the time...

Oh, I didn't know the race twins were supposed to be run that much higher. Those are the pipes I have too, and I've only been turning 8000... Doesn't the ECU keep it from going over 8500?
Sorry for the highjack.

Stock 800 big block CDIs start clipping timing at 8400 and it drops off quick once above that.

canyoncreek... you might try putting the airbox back on so you can pull fresh air from outside. When the ground speed drops, even if you aren't running a hood, the pods pull hot air in from the motor and then the motor richens and power drops off.

One thing to note on SLP's website all the hp ratings are on a cold pipe. With 2-stroke pipes, once they are hot the power curve moves up in RPM. SLP says a lower peak rpm power for max reliability on longevity out of engines (saving their reputation).

8500 rpm on edge 800's with twins is where they really shine. Although with a single its a completely different story since power just falls off the curve after 8250 rpm.
