You didn't mention what Primary weights your running. There's nothing wrong with 8,000 RPM's unless of course it drops to 7,700 @ 10,500. The best running Pro's I saw last season bounced between 7,850 and 8,050. I rode with a few that were supposedly tuned up and clutched to spin 8,200 that launched and climbed very poorly.

im running 10-62 but heard they run better at 8200 maybe im wrong to play with it

I found 8200 felt good, but a buddies sled pulling 8050 would beat me. I changed wieght and only hitting 8050 but climbed the same as his.

went out today found after putting a blue pink spring in the primary i found that now im still hitting 8000 on the roads but climbing in powder only hitting 7400:face-icon-small-con:face-icon-small-con

At 9000ft Iwould run 10-60s. Maybe even 10-58s considering 300lbs. I would try 10-60 1st. MTX 68s are to heavy.

i found on my 2009 rmk that the blue pink was too much finish rate when you are that high up in elevation. I switched back to the stock spring and didnt lose any rpms. what are you getting for shift out?
i would just try the stock primary and black/purple secondary (or i cant remember the other color that was working good) and some 10-60s and let er buck.
It was such a balancing act whenever I rode above 10,000 feet it felt like - either too much spring or too light of weights.
oh, and that 64 degree helix will be too much i have a feeling.

hope this helps!!

Still a little new to all the clutch talk but im running just a stock 2011 pro rmk 163 and that thing climbs really well all the time, weather its at 8000 ft or above 10,000 i have not had any issues to complain about.

it's interesting hearing the responses from clutching

At the end of the season last year on the PRO I work with we changed some stuff and ended up with a screamer but it would only pull 7950 when before it pulled 8150-8200 all day. Instant on super pull right to 7950. The thing was it was flat cemented at 7950 and it didn't matter if you were on the groomed drag strip or climbing up a steep hill in two feet of heavy fresh. It also didn't change between two testers one 170 and one 240! EXPLAIN THAT PLEASE EXPERTS!

Can't wait to test some slightly different spring combos and see if there is more at 8150-8200 like everyone thinks. It feels like you are kind of stuck between gears but the thing absolutely RIPS and it was way dominant over all the other comparable sleds on site. My guess is if you can get 7950 and it holds there without clutch heat then that is the ideal RPM. The dyno specs for this motor pipe combo are peaked at that RPM but it sure feels like there is more with the seat of the pants dyno. Interesting stuff.

Mtncat1 did you like the mtx weights? I just bought a set the other day but I'm skeptical that they are to heavy for high elevation.I ride at 10k to 12k most of the time and i have found that a black/white in the secondary with a delrin and stock helix holds sick rpm on hillclimbs in pow.Exhaust valves that arent opening all the way will cause rpm loss as well,so i use pink instead of orange[ stock] .

i have never tried the mtx wieghts got them from a friend they came off a piped dragon, talked to triple s in ogden they recomended 10-60s and derlin washers stock sound close to the set up recomended above thanks guys:face-icon-small-ton

I agree with above.
w e run at 8000-1400 ft.
stock or blue pink or green pink, 59.5 grams for heaver guys/60.5gram for us little guys. secondary black/purple with delrins on each side of spring and one under the cup, and the slp shim.
pulls hard holds rpms and back shifts like butter, smack throttle and its right there!
goog luck
get it just right and youll love it.

Delrins are a must. Also before you install secondary spring file the ends of the spring wire smooth so it will spin and rotate nicely on the delrins.

Curious, anyone else running the SLP blue/pink primary and the black/purple in the secondary with a derlin washer. The only reason I ask is that I'm looking at this as well plus Team and SLP recommend only running 1 derlin under the spring cup. Thoughts????
