Clutch

I have a 1990 Indy 500 that needs a primary clutch, it has a comet on it right now and the ramps have ate into the spider, I haven't had any luck finding replacement parts, my question to you fellas is will a primary off of a 1987 fan cooled work if I change the spring and ramps over? thanks in advance.

I don't believe it will work... the liquids of that era had a longer clutch snout to hold the clutch out more. According to my book any clutch off of a 84-98 400, 500 or 440 liquid cooled Indy will work.

They tapers are the same on the clutches, it's a matter of if you can get the right off-set between the 2 clutches. Also, different clutches have different pin height/locations for the specific motors/sleds.
