Clutch weight sticking

One of my clutch weights has been sticking after I go wide open for a while. it's only been happening on the trail so far, and I have to stop and tap it back down. Any ideas on why this is happening? Thanks

Almost guarantee that your rollers are worn out. Seen it before on same year and make sled. Your best bet is a new clutch. Or you can have someone rebuild it for you.

Weight pin bushing is probably shot. If it hasn't worn out the roller yet it could be torquing over sideways and jamming.

Regardless, that clutch needs some major TLC it sounds like.

mine did the same, the problem was one worn out/disappeared roller bushing,
the roll even got flat spots on the outside.

bought a repair kit and rebuilt it,
but it was a lot of work making all the tools,
or expensive if you buy them all.

Clutch jig, spider nut socket, spider wrench,3'-5' piece of pipe for cheater Bar,
Clutch taper reamer.Button pliers,feeler gauges,3/16 allen & 3/8 socket or wrench...

Parts to have to rebuild:
Buttons,button shim kit
Rollers and pins
new wheights And BOLTS
New Primary spring
240 grit wet dry sand paper
small piece of red scotch brite

hope this helps....
Your best bet is to send it in to be rebuilt,And trued by Some One.
IE; carls,tri-city,slp depending on your location.

I have no experience with snowmobile clutches and I discovered this problem yesterday when my clutch belt would not disengage the motor when I stopped.

Sorry for jumping into a Polaris thread, I have a Arctic cat 900 m1 and did a search based on clutch issues.

I have the same issue. Why can't this be solved with a new spider assembly and cam arms?

My rollers are worn flat and one of my cam arms flips sideways and sticks.

I was hoping to take apart and replace the spider assembly, buy new cam arms and a main spring and reassemble?

Am I off track on this? Same system as a Polaris or are the arctic cat clutches setup differently?

Thanks

Ian

they are all close to the same idea, but differ slightly.
most of the time if the clutch can be rebuilt By adding the worn out items.
all clutches have been balanced after assembly. plus you cant buy individual pieces(ie Spyder assem.) and if you did it would have to be rebalanced.
If its minor Rebuild it.
if it is major
Cheaper in the long run to buy new. IMO
