clutch shock tower vent

i bought one, a slp from my local dealer who cut me a deal i could not pass up, and when i look at installing it, there is a bracket that riveted on the inside, right where the top of my vent goes? its the plate that all the electronics are siting on. do i just cut the plastic that i need, and move around the bracket and put the vent over the bracket so it looks like its cut out, but its not? sorry if this is making no sense

here is a pic of what im talking about.

this is NOT the vent i got. but that is the bracket im talking about. the vent i got seems to fit best, with the top half covering that bracket. do i just cut the plastic below it, or try to get the vent to fit lower?

I believe it should fit under the bracket just like to one in your picture. If its too big to fit, you might have got an exhaust side vent or a vent for an older IQ (my 2007 didnt have that bracket but my 2010 does). I think SLP changed their design for that bracket but not 100% sure. hope this helps

kinda sounds like you got the exhaust side vent. The clutch side vent should go right under that bracket. the clutch vent is only two levels and the exhaust side is 3 if that makes any sense.

You need SLP #539. It is narrower with only two vent slots and fits the area below that plate. It sounds like they gave you the one for the 05-06 900/700 IQ. I just went through this with mine. Couldn't get it to fit right with the plate. I finally noticed on the top of the instructions that it said 900/700 IQ. Went back and got the correct one.

i will check it out in the morning. thanks guys. it is a 3 level/slot one and says its for left side, so maybe it is for a 05-06... anyone need one?? lol $20

personally i would just use it....my 09 has the three slot slp vents on each side...just cut around the bracket and mount it...no big deal...plus it is more ventilation anyway and it looks better in my opinion

thanks everyone. like chas04 said, im probably just going to use it. already have it, only 20 bucks and i will either just cut around the bracket or cut off the top slot so it looks like a 2 slot
