what are some of you guys that ride 5 to 8000ft, running for clutch setups. ive got the 140/330 primary spring, 70g weights, stock helix, and an almond secondary spring. this setup seems to work well at lower elevations, but all my riding is done at 5 to 8000.

almond secondary spring??? dont think thats possible..

all 900s should be using the Black/White or Red/Pink secondary spring only IMO.

do you have an SLP pipe? that will make a difference in your clutching as well.

is your primary shimmed for the belt correctly/belt deflection set correctly also...if neither of these, it will not run right...

same with if your clutches are worn out and in need of a complete rebuild...

worn out clutch bushings and rollers will cause lots of issues.

you MUST replace your clutch springs every 2yrs MAX or they will sack out and your sled will run terrible...ect ect

i am the same altitude as you...

slp pipe/cpi can
slp flash/billet head
74g MTX weights with 2g in outter tip
SLP blue/pink primary spring
2 derlin washers in seconday
58.46/46 helix
black/white secondary spring
shimmed for 3211115 belt
balanced primary
every other part made in the world also installed, lol.

hope that helps. but probably doesnt, lol.

ya, sorry looked at my reciepts again and ive got the red/black sec spring.
yes im running the slp pipe and can with the reflash.
primary clutch is all new, set up and only a month old from indy dan, setup when got TM1, and have set belt deflection properly on secondary.

so it looks like my secondary may be the problem. guess i will save up for some new goodies for it. thanks for your input

Maybe my eye sight is worse than I think, but what year is your 9 ? That will make a big difference in set-up.

stock helix and gearing

There is your 2 big gains...

Are you happy with your gearing? or could you cut some top speed off and be happy? 19/42 is a great gearing for the shorter than 166 900's. I get a max speed of about 75mph on 2.4" lugs with 19/42

The helix is a place to gain as well, I think the 719 helix is the most popular (I went with the 409 / red-pink as recommended by Carls), but there are a few others that have similar specs. Someone else with more part numbers and specs in their head can help out hopefully

only engine mods are the slp exhaust, and slp intake.

i would definetely be ok with loosing some top end speed, dont drag race the thing anyways. i planned on doing a gear change and helix change about a month ago, then my crank snapped. would gearing and helix make it bog at elevation?
apprieciate the help guys.
