clutch problem

have 12 pro rmk , the primary has aluminum sawdust on belly pan, clutch wont come all the way back out on its own thus making it idle at 1200 with belt being engaged any ideas , spring not broke but has wear on inside and out taking to dealer today just want a heads up if anyone else has had this issue
thanks

Something is screwed up! Hard to say without looking at it. Hopefully your dealer finds something obvious, or atleast just plain gets a new clutch for ya!

If they won't do anything for you, I'd either send it off to a place like Indy Specialty, or Carl's etc... Either one of those places could find a problem, and if not fixable, would atleast be able to advise you of so.

Clutch

Had two 800 Switchbacks this year do the same thing. clutch was not torqued well enough from the factory or didnt seat well on the PTO end of the crank and the clutch was shot. Started wobbling on the crank, which wore all of the bushings and started eating into the aluminum. Both happened right around 250 miles and a third i know of was around 800 miles. The day they went down it got so bad on our way back to the lodge that we had to lift the track to start them. BOTH ended up snapping in half when they tried to pull them and had to weld the stub back together to get it off the crank. Seems to be a common problem this year. Take it to your dealer, let them do the breaking, or their going to point fingers at you.

weights and belt

Just another quick suggestion... Make sure you have the dealer check your weights and warranty that belt if you think their bad. The bushings on the weights one of the guys was running here were shot from the miles after it started acting up. we wer 40 miles (backwoods riding) back to the lodge before they could finally shut them off, tight turns and stop and go riding were hard with the clutch stuck engaged!!!

thanks for the info, took to dealer today, told them i want a new clutch and belt, i have rode/owned polaris all my life first one being a 77 colt, i have never taken a clutch apart until last week in wyoming. i live in michigan and put 300 miles on the 68 weights and just put on 375 with the other weights
i really think after 10+k i deserve a new clutch since there is aluminum dust on belly pan and the belt is glazed bad
we will see , i will post back later what the dealer can do

verdict in

clutch broken in half, dealer cant get other half off yet

we are now worried about the crank so i may be getting a new one
also clutch and belt, will check about the weights

this had to do long term damage to the crank, just not right
and bye the way , polaris says never seen this before !!!!!
thanks everyone for the help

now im waiting , lost my last ride of the year

bummer man. broke mine in half last monday in WY. Took it to Shively Hardware in Saratoga around 430PM and by 9AM the next morning they had the old one off, new one on, and it was warrantied. I lucked out that they had a clutch sitting on the shelf. They told me it was the 2nd one they dealt with this year. If your dealer has no idea how to get it off, have them give Shively a call and see how they did it. Big thanks to Shively for the quick turn around and saving me from being forced to ride a Doo!

I didn't even know it was broke in half at first. Acted like a stuck weight, so I figured the bushing in the face plate was gone. Drove slow back to the truck and pulled the bolt out, then the front half of my clutch fell off... ha :face-icon-small-sho

polaris is warranting

crank, clutch, belt

glad i wont have to worry about crank next yr.
86 degrees in mid michigan today so dealer take your time

hopefully i get a good clutch this time

never seen this one coming
