Clutch Pop Water Trick ?

Hey guys ! I'm in the process of rebuilding my whole engine. Now I need to take off the clutch. Have you guys ever been successful on popping off your clutch with the water trick ? I tried it and nothing seems to budge even one bit !

I tried it the same way the guys on YouTube are doing it. But I also noticed every clutch pop they do is from a Ski-Doo and not a Polaris.

Can this be done on our clutches also ?

By the way I own a 2010 RMK 155. Thankx !

The difference is the doo clutch can be pulled off(water method) with the bolt that holds the clutch on.
On the Polaris you can't use the bolt for the clutch, or a Polaris puller. I guess you could use the puller if you cut it down, but a 18mm bolt fine pitch threads 1.5? is needed to make the water trick work.

The Polaris puller works fine with water, grease or Acetone; (Acetone, my choice as it leaves no residue and does an expeditious high pressure cleaning of the mating surfaces upon release). Eye protection should be worn, but most all the fluid is going towards the engine at release. The Polaris puller does not need to be modified at all. The portion that usually bottoms to the crank never touches down once the hydraulic medium of choice is poured into the bolt cavity. FWIW

I suggest using safety glasses...

Plenty of tef tape, sled on its side with the clutch bolt hole facing straight up... fill the cavity with water to the top before putting the puller in.

You will need to hold the clutch from turning... i like to use a tie down strap hooked to running board. ... and have a good long wrench !

Be super carefull as it will pop off with force... I've seen some go flying... maybe some bungie cords on the clutch to keep that from happening??

Water and Teflon tape WILL WORK, trust me... my dealer once tried telling me they had NEVER had a clutch they couldn't get off until I took my 900 in... they suggested cutting it off. I took the sled home and 5 minutes later I had the clutch in my hand. The service manager just about fainted when I walked in with the clutch in my hand only an hour after picking the machine up!!!

CAUTION:

Be careful... the clutches can pop off 'violently'... and injure you or cause damage to surrounding things.
