Hi everyone, this is my first polaris I have owned.i just bought it so waiting for snow so I can try it out but would like to check everything out and do some maintenance first. I have an adjustable clutch alignment tool but the manual I bought does not have the amount of offset, would anyone know what that number is. its a 2012 rmk assault 800. it has the team secondary and I am assuming it is a P85 primary.thanks to anyone with any help

What is this tool you speak of? If it's the Polaris part #PS-47477, then I can tell you what the offset is. Otherwise, you probably won't find a definite number, due to the alignment angle. I do have this tool, if anyone near me ever wants to borrow it.
With that said, if your motor mounts look good, I wouldn't worry about it too much. The pro chassis is quite good at maintaining alignment. If you start blowing belts a lot, although unlikely, then I'd start looking into the alignment after you look at motor mounts.

I measured 35.6mm (1.4in) for your tool. I put a straight edge across the Polaris tool, lining up the two areas that touch the secondary, and measured to the middle of the primary. There's probably some offset angle in there, but that should get you close enough.

Despite the primary being convex, does this alignment tool assume both clutch faces are parallel, or is there some angle built in for motor shift when under load?
No there is no built in angle but when setting it for distance i could put a bit of angle on it. I use a straight 3/8” brass bar clamped in the secondary and measure to the back of the primary for that. I have not tried that method on this one yet but thats how i did it on my cats

I just looked at the LWT tool again and there is a slight angle. I'd say it's about 2 degrees, where the primary faces away from the secondary (as expected). So, with a flat tool, I'd say you're good if the gap at the far side of the secondary is between .040" and .100".
I am finally getting back to finishing the clutches on here. the offset was bang on but seem not enough float, its about .020".i measured it with a feeler gauge between the clutch retaining washer and the face of the driven clutch. is that where you would measure from? thanks to anyone who could shed some light on this for me. the other ? I have is do you only float it to the outside and setting the offset takes care of any movement it needs to the inside. I hope that makes sense
