Clutch numbers

I have an 08 Apex MTX, I was looking at the secondary? clutch and it has some different holes where the spring can go, they are numbered. I assume the same would be on the other side of the clutch. What effects will changing the spring to different numbers make? My clutching is all stock. Thanks for any input.

Inside the clutch is 1,2,3. Outside is 0,3,6,9.

Example would be 3-3=60, 2-6=80...etc.

The higher the final number the stiffer the spring. This will increase peak rpm, and make it back shift quick when on/off the throttle.

Now, keep in mind when you do this you have to hold the secondary sheaves together and twist the helix clockwise to align the studs and slide the helix down onto the clutch shaft, then quickly get one of the nuts back on the studs.

As you can see from the numbers you can set it anywhere between 10 and 120, around 60 would be stock, once you get over 80/100 it can get tricky to do with out an extra set of hands. Eric

Thanks for your response, so basically it mostly controls your revs? I am revving about 10,300 or so, Not off the rev limiter, I was told this was ok?

It will effect the revs but you want to control the rev with the primary fly weight. Spring twist will effect the backshift.

You are pretty close as long as the rpms you are seeing are in the snow conditions you want to ride in. I run 11,000 on trail so I get 10,500 in the snow.
