Clutch noise on 2004 800 Rev

Hi,
I'm a total newbee to snowmachines and this one specifically. Just bought it, total 1100 miles on seld, with a recent repair to clutch, by previous owner. First time out, when I got to 3500-4000 rpms the clutch engaged with no sound or sensation, now after about 200 miles more on machine, clutch makes a 'clunking sound' when it engages. No sensation of slipping. Just a confirmation that's it's engaged. Is this OK or is it time to see the service guys.
Thanks
Jon

Probably just the RER clutch slaping against the helix as it engages. Your sled did not come with a roller secondary and they slap back and forth some. Going down hill with no throttle and then hitting the gas will cause this also.

If your last move was to back up using RER, it will make a slight clunk almost every time when you go forward as the secondary rotates to the other side of the helix.

I am kind of careful when I hammer the throttle to make sure the backlash is out of the secondary before hitting the hammer.

Not a bad idea to take them all apart this summer to clean and service any how. I do my secondary each fall and primary several times a season.

Noisy clutch

Appreciate your reply. Upon closer inspection it is not the clutch that clunks but rather when the driven pulley is engaged by the belt. I can adjust belt height but looks like adjusting pulley tension, ie distance from drive to driven on a rev is a big deal, air box in the way, lots of stuff bolted to the sliding side of the driven pulley. Not as easy as it used to be on a car to adjust belt tension. Could belt tension cause this? Also, can I service the driven pulley plates and mechanism? Still learning and open to advice. Thanks
Jon

Adjusting your belt "height" will also affect your "tension". If you adjust your belt so it sits higher in the secondary clutch it will become tighter between the two clutches. That will not make your "clunk" go away though. All the sleds with electronic reverse suffer from that noise.
