Clutch has rattle sound. Spuratic at idle.

I recently just did big overhaul on the 900 fusion. Clutching is all stock,, 2,350 WOT RPM.. Michigan Trail.

I did take off clutch and replaced my bushings, all looked good after install. (Blue with white stock spring)

I think this question i have is the spring, but im gonna ask anyway. Stock original spring on this thing.


When im at idle i hear a spuratic slight rattle,, on/off random,,, give it a little rev and it goes away,, then back to idle,, you can hear it again fades to rattle then goes away...

Any ideas ?

It's probley the spring,, if so,, what is happening w/ that spring to create that rattle ?
 
Do you mean 7,350 or 8,350 RPM?

If you are only seeing 2,350 at WOT, that rattle is your clutch bound up.
 
WOW 2350 rpm your sled should not even move, the clutch should never even engage. Something is way wrong if thats the case (like broken primary spring or no pimary spring).

i been wrenchin for two weeks,, im feelin a little dizzy.. With reg. job and all..


New finding,, been out there brining up to temp. for top end 06' piston breakin... (Fun just idling w/ compfusion mounts & crossmember)

Rattle is offically the shield over the Coolant hose in clutch location... Man, sound is funny to track down.

Im all set on this....


NEW QUESTION: If i was to do one thing in clutching on this machine,, one !!!! What would you do ?

All stock clutching,,, Springs are from 2005 too.
I get 7350 RPM at WOT... I kinda hit a wall at 95, so i went from 25 tooth on top gear to 24.. (This was done this week),

I do Michigan Trail, agreesive riding.. X-AMA motocrosser style.

I am assuming the 24t new gear is gonna get me thru this 95 wall,, and i am usually only in need fo 30 to 80mph any way..

My stock clutching engauges at 3400 RPM as it is now. Im not sure whats gonna happen w/ top end RPM w/ the 24t new gear. Im hoping its gonna let me shift out all way and ride thru 95 wall.

So w/ such nice RPM #'s, and speed... Should i just see what happedns w/ 24t gear,,, or is there somthing i should do cost effective you recommend ??????

If I were to do one thing I would get some fresh new springs in both primary and secondary. Also get a few extra similar springs around the stock preload and finish on both. When I tried the 24 tooth rpm's also changed and I didn't have spare springs in different ratios. Was a few years ago so I cannot remember if they were higher or lower, pretty sure they were higher. Also was hitting a wall @ 90-95 and 24 tooth didn't fix it so went back to stock. Maybe with 24 and a 38 with it? shorty 121" here too.

I ride in Michigan too maybe we can get together and ride I also have the 900 polaris 2005 I run the 720 helix with stock spring I hit around 110 not sure if the speedo is right or not.but that's what is show's. I've geared it down this yr. to a 37gear top 24. I had the 39 gear in before.I will lose a little top end for sure. but that ok for me.
