clutch engaging

i have a 1997 arctic cat powder special ext EFI 580. the clutch doesnt engage to roughly 5000 - 5500 rmps, and when it engages it just graps so hard it doesnt engage gradually like it should. it has a yellow and green spring in the primary and a yellow in the secondary if i put a yellow and white spring in the primary would it fix my problem?

I looked at the specs for the 1997 580 and it is supposed to have the Yellow/white spring in it. The Yellow/green was for the ZR's so I would guess it would help your problem.
