Clutch alignment tool, what to do with play side to side w/ 2ndary ?

Clutch alignment tool, what to do with play side to side w/ 2ndary ?

Do I push the slop inboard or pull outboard to position for measuring alignment gap from tool edge. Suprized directions don't say.

After messing with it,, looks like i am to push the 2ndary inboard then put tool on primary, then measure.

Correct ?

The secondary shoule "float" from side to side. On the 900 there is no clutch alignment so thats why it does that to align itself. Take a look at the stickies there is tons of info on how to set this.

I have read much, and i hear allot about making sure your clutches are aligned. Read different tightening sequences of front mount, pto first, rear left, next,, then,, etc.. And checking alignment while doing so... So i bought the alignemnt tool made for this sled. This alignemnt tool came w/ spec's of gap for TSS-98 clutch,, which is stock. .040 gap required.. gives feedback in instruction to loosen mounts, shim, retighten then measure,, do again if off till gap is reached.
This clutch, 2ndary,, has push in and out,,,, slop.. Im asking do you push in till bottom out,, then measure,,,, or pull it out then measure against tool....

I may no know everything,, but i know this 900 clutch needs to be aligned,, and yes,, the slop to to aid in alignment as the motor rotates from torque... but there is a start alignment to this, and thats what this tool is for.

I didn't read his whole post but think this is what you are trying to do.

Yes,, i see,,, hmm.. the way i see it this alignment tool is good for gettin ya in the ball park..,, chassis build tolerance is gonna put in your position basically...

I am adding billet crossmember,, and compfusion mounts.. i will align and learn which side to do first,,etc.. find my best position,,, and sell this alignemnt tool to a memeber on this forum..
Baisaclly once i know the frame position w/ these new parts put me close,, im done w/ it. (clutch alignemnt tool)..

Correct ?
Yes, that is correct! You push the clutch toward the jackshaft bearing and measure with the polaris tool. When using the factory shims, it is hard to not have any float to the inside. A slight amount of float to the inside is acceptable.
