Clutch Alignment KK

I am sure this has been asked before. I installed a Monster Mount on my KingCat and not sure how much deflection I should have between clutches. Right now there is about 3/32 of a inch between clutches, Even with this mount I think the motor will twist that much and hopefully be farely straight, any thoughts would be appreciated. MADDOGWFO

Get your hands on a sled-pro alignment tool. Alignment tends to be way off on these sleds right from the factory.

Both ways..........

It seems that many here only align on one plane. As far as deflection goes, I run as little as I can. Just so it doesn't creep, but watch out on high speed runs on the flat. You could blow a belt, but it's never been a problem in the mountains.

JMCX I am sorry for the confusion on what I asked, the measurement 3/32 was with a alignment tool on the primary clutch from the secondary clutch MADDOGWFO

So you're saying you have an extra 3/32" on the centre to centre distance that the clutch alignment tool calls for? If you have the motor well restrained that may be a bit much but should be fine to try IMHO. Is the factory torque stop in good shape?

JMCX this is what I am looking at, please check out pictures, after checking things out the measurement is really only 1/16 of a inch, I may be doing this all wrong but the alignment tool is made for this KK, It is to wide to fit behind the primary, any ideas, also the back stop is in new condition, the sled has less than a 1000 miles on it MADDOGWFO

Nothing like a picture to make things clearer. Your alignment has the same problem I think all these sleds do. The engine is already twisted back towards the secondary without any forces on it. To align mine and my friends KK's we had to rotate the engines clockwise, looking down, pivoting at the mount by the torque stop. The right side mounts needed a good 3/8" slotting to get it good.

Pull all the mount bolts out except the back left and move the engine around until you get good alignment and see where the holes should be.

Thanks

Thanks for the imput JMCX, I will try doing what you suggested, looks like we will have some freshies this weekend here MADDOGWFO

I had to move mine close to 1/4 inch to make them parallel. It wasn't really that difficult and now they are perfectly aligned in all respects.

I wound up with some flat washers on the bolts after I took so much material out of the motor mount. It looks like your mount does the same thing but I installed what they call a torque stop on the front so the motor won't twist under load.
