**********************************************

Hello Sno Trackers & prospective members,

Here's some information for this weekends ride/cookout/registration drive at the Kebler trails. The Forest Service will have a registration drive from 10-3 at the Kebler trail head. If you still need to register you sled this is a great easy way to get it done. You'll need your snowmobile serial #, year, make, model, and engine size. (500, 600, etc) For those interested in riding we will be leaving the trailhead around 10 and heading out to ride as groups. Everyone needs to gather at the Y, (where Kebler pass and Irwin roads meet) around 12:30 for burgers, brats, dogs, etc. We'll hang out and have fun and ride the rest of the afternoon. This will be somewhat informal. Just a great way to start the year of snowmobiling.

Come and visit us in the lobby of City Market tomorrow, Dec 10th. We will set up a table, from 10-3, where you can purchase a raffle ticket for a brand new M6 Artic Cat snowmobile. The drawing is Dec 23rd, just in time for Christmas. We will also have club membership forms to make it easy for you to renew your membership for the 08-09 year. We are shooting for 100 paid membership this year. We are currently at 21 paid. (Nine are business, and 12 are family or individual). Come on by and let's get those #'s up. Pick up a raffle ticket while your at it. They are $5 each. The club will receive 50% of the sale of all tickets we sell.

Mark your calendars for January 31st. We will be having a multi club ride here at our trail system. Gunnison County Sno Trackers, The new Arrowhead snowmobile club and Montrose snowmobile club will be combining for a day of fun and riding. We will have a cookout on that day as well.

Mark you calendars for February 21st. We will have a take a friend snowmobiling event. February 14-22 is National take a friend snowmobiling week. It will be a way to introduce our sport to the general public and garner support as well and recruit new people to the sport. There is effectiveness in #'s.

We'll keep you posted on these events as the time nears. Put on your radar for now Dec 10th at City Market and Dec 13th on our trails.

I'll see you there

Thanks for the 411..wish I could make it out that way to meet a few more of the local gang. Have a holiday party for the wifes work so I have to ride on Sun only this weekend.

From the looks of your avatar and your new location I'm guessing your cabin is built and your are living the dream! Looks sweet...congrats

Cool - there will be more events/opportunities.

Well - not quite moved in yet. But the location is legit - as I spent more time up there under construction this summer than anywhere else. ;-)

More work to do, but we're shooting for Fally 2009 if this economy recovers!

Pray for snow!

MD.

Going to try and get a crew to come up from Grand Junction for Sat festivities. Like to me you guys.

Phil's A.M. Update:

<<All
It looks like it slow down during the night. We got about 5" in Crested Butte. I'm sure Irwin area got more. Weather bug is calling for 1-3 inches today and 6-12 inches tonight. There calling for winds to pick up this afternoon. Plans are to meet around the trailhead this morning for some riding. We will provide burgers, brats, and dogs along with beans and chips at the Kebler trail head around 12:30. Come on out if you can. I won't be the best day of riding but the snow will be nice.

12/13/08 Ave Report - CB

Watch for the Avalanche Danger to rise today and tonight with the probability of an Avalanche Warning by tommorrow morning. With 6.5 inches of snow (.5" of water) last night with some gusting winds our snowpack has received the first new load. Overall we have a weak snowpack with early season facets on the ground in most locations and a variety of crusts on solar aspects. Since the Thanksgiving storm we have had continued reports of wumpfing or a collapsing snowpack. A triggered avalanche two days ago with a 2-3 foot crown prove the snowpack is weak and unstable. The current structure of the snowpack will not hold much additional load before we see widespread failure. By mid day today new accumulations will cause the avalanche danger to rise. Triggered avalanches today will be possible to probable. By tomorrow with big snow in the forecast we will most likely be issuing an avalanche warning as Natural and triggered avalanches will be likely and we will see a widespread avalanche cycle.

Thanks to everyone who came today and registered snowmobiles and joined the SnoTrackers club! We can always use the extra support.

BOHICA, SteamboatRN, Powderpatrol - good meeting you guys!

It's starting to get deep up there!

It was nice to put a couple of faces to names here on Snowest. Nice meeting you Corey and Phil. I would also like to welcome SteamboatRN to our posse. Great rider and has a lot of passion for snowmobiling, and he's an RN so now we've got medical staff on site when riding. LOL

What an awesome day for early season.
Thanks to Snotrackers for putting on a tasty spread!!! Nice to meet Cory and the rest of the gang. You guys rock.
Mark and Ray are a riot to sled with and found us plenty of untracked pow to play in.
The climb back up to the road from Mark's gully was worth the turn around.

And it will only get better.
