Closest mountain riding area from Québec?

Closest mountain riding area from Québec?

Hi you western deep powder lucky peoples. I own a 154 Summit 08 and eventually plan to do a trip out west one of these days. I know that I could go around Valemount or Revelstoke BC to ride in the mountain but is there a mountain area closest from Granby Québec in the US? Also, is the Avalanche danger is everywhere out west or some place are less dangerous for them?

For western riding for you, the quickest route would be to head to the Snowies, just outside of Laramie, WY. Interstate majority of the way this route. The great lakes make it a pain for you but going around the south end to me would seem to be the quickest.

As far as Avalanche danger. Mtn riding in the west has the potential of avalanche's everywhere(I'm being general here). One state or mountain range is not safer to ride in vs another. The biggest difference of danger vs. being safe is if you want to climb or play in the meadows. Other things, get the proper gear, practice with it and get the daily avalanche forecast just like you would want to check the weather for each day.

Thanks for the Info. I just opened a road atlas to see where Laramie is I'm gonna try google map just for fun.... Must be a f...... long road to go there but I will make the trip some day, by plane if not by the road. I will hire a guide and rent or buy all the safety gear. I just learn that avy class are available right here in Québec even if we don't have lots of big mountains. would be interesting to learn what to watch and what to do if the worst happen. Until then, we'll ride our Summit under the powerline and the logging road with powder to the hood when it possible...

have u rode above Quebec city to the northeast , I forget the area name but localssay it's decent. I used ride from la patrie, greatriding ppl and bars

I have a house in Monts Valins were we have decent snow (about 20ft) but not much open land or open mountain. There in Gaspesie or Monts Groulx (far north east, north of St-Laurent river) that some of my friends had to ride and that could make a warm up for the western mountain but this is 16hrs from here, inthe middle of no where, little to no service, and maybe avy risk and noboby here have any avalanche gear or technique so before headind to go there....

Thanks for the info, did'nt made my Google map request for Laramie ....
